Brittany Busey, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Meet Brittany

Nurse By Heart, Provider By choice

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who started in the medical field over 20 years ago.  Through my time as a nurse, I witnessed first hand the lack of humanistic care and advocacy my patients were receiving.  Instead of continue to experience it, I decided to do something about it.  After many years in clinical RN practice, I obtained a Masters from Western Governor's University in 2020 with completion of my post-masters as a PMHNP in 2024 from Wilkes University.  Through my time in outpatient practice, I have aimed to bridge the communication and care gap many patients experience.

I believe mental health care should honor the whole person, not just symptoms or diagnoses. My approach to care is holistic and integrative, grounded in the understanding that mental, emotional, physical, cultural, and social factors are deeply connected.

I strive to create a safe, compassionate space where individuals feel seen, heard, and supported as they move toward healing and balance.  Advocacy is at the heart of my work. I am deeply committed to supporting vulnerable and underserved populations, including women, children, minorities, and individuals who have historically faced barriers to quality mental health care. I believe that everyone deserves access to care that is respectful, empowering, and rooted in dignity.

As a lifelong learner, I remain dedicated to expanding my knowledge and integrating evidence-based practice with holistic strategies that promote long-term wellness, resilience, and self-empowerment.

The foundation of who I am, both personally and professionally, was greatly shaped by my grandmother, whose life and values continue to guide my work. She was a lifelong learner with unwavering faith and trust who pursued and achieved her PhD later in life, modeling perseverance, resiliency, and fortitude. She was also a fierce advocate for children, women, minorities, and those who were often unheard or overlooked. Her commitment to education, justice, God, and compassion instilled in me a deep sense of purpose and responsibility to carry on her profound work. This practice is dedicated to her legacy and to the belief that growth, healing, and transformation are possible at any stage of life; it just take a little faith, and a whole lot of action!

As a mother of three and one of 6 siblings, I understand the complexities of balancing personal well-being, family responsibilities, and life’s many demands while attempting to maintain mental "sanity." Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy cooking, traveling, and spending meaningful time with my family—experiences that reinforce my belief in the importance of connection, nourishment, rest, and joy as essential components of mental health.

My goal is to partner with both individuals and families on their mental health journey, offering care that is thoughtful, collaborative, and empowering. Together, we work toward healing that honors the whole person and supports a life of greater clarity, balance, and fulfillment.

Values & Philosophy of Care

My philosophy of care is rooted in the belief that healing is not one-size-fits-all. Mental health is deeply interconnected with physical health, lived experiences, culture, environment, and relationships. I approach each individual with curiosity, compassion, and respect, recognizing that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, offering guidance, clinical expertise, and support, while empowering you to make informed decisions about your care.

I practice from a holistic and integrative framework, blending evidence-based psychiatric treatment/medication management with attention to lifestyle, nutrition, stress management, sleep, relationships, and personal strengths. When appropriate, I incorporate integrative strategies that support overall well-being, with the goal of fostering sustainable healing rather than temporary symptom relief alone.

Advocacy is a core value that guides my work. I am committed to providing equitable, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed care, particularly for individuals from vulnerable and historically marginalized populations. I believe mental health care should be accessible, affirming, and grounded in dignity. Every person deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported, regardless of background or circumstance.

I also value collaboration and lifelong learning. I view the therapeutic relationship as a partnership built on trust, transparency, and open communication. I continuously seek to expand my knowledge to ensure that the care I provide reflects both current research and a deep respect for the human experience.

Above all, I believe in hope. Healing, growth, and transformation are possible at every stage of life. My mission is to help individuals reconnect with their strengths, reclaim their voice, and move forward with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

You don’t have to navigate your mental health journey alone.
